Do you mean up at the driving end of the feeder chain, on the left-hand side? I believe it's just splined into the gearbox. mine broke the drive spline at about 1200hours. wasn't a bad fix though

 

You got to watch the splines as they will wear and then you have no drive !! Brother had bought a 8120 and took the drive off right away and it had worn past the point of being able to reuse the upper chain sprocket . So had to remove the feeder housing and get it out from the top .

 

There is no bearing in that area, but there should be IMO. We've had to replace that shaft a few times on our 8120. To much distance between the gearbox and drive sprocket. The distance it runs with the toque it needs to put out is just to much for it to handle. In my conditions anyways.

 

just how they come, and no changes in a long time just need to replace the shaft and sprocket

 

i also hear they came up with better alignment for the shaft that way there is less wear

 

the dealers have a bore sight to check the alignment of gearbox to the bearing on the other side. I have seen them bad enough that I couldn’t thread the bolt in the right side without loosening the bolts on gearbox .
