Air cart behind planter

Looking to get more capacity out of a 1700 john Deere planter with 1.6 bu boxes.

Would a simple dividing air system into the top of each box, from a tow behind air cart work? Or would the boxes get too uneven too quickly?

Thanks

Will

I think a guy would have to turn cart fan and clutch on intermittently to make it work good, the prob I think would be metering it from the cart at the same rate as the planter so I think I would go a little overboard on the meter on the cart and just turn run it till the boxes are full and shut her down till boxes get down around a 1/4. I have seen some set up that way with like old prasco and concord carts but still ain't sure exactly how they went about doing it

Yea Will it work we have it set up on our 12 row 1720 with a front mounted airseeder.
I just wack the pipe in the top set it on a high rate a turn it on every now and then.
Works well for what we do do it with mungbeans and forage sorghum.

Flexicoil had a meter that allowed them to feed corn planters. It was available for the 40 series tanks I believe when they built their corn planters (9000 series). It basically turned their tank into a nurse tank like on the central fill planters.

It can be found in their parts, but that would probably be extremely costly to piece together.

Thanks guys. I'm not hearing that it's impossible so might give it a try.

I have read about the flexicoil type meter. If it's the one I think it is I'm still not sure how it doesn't just plug the lines. In any case I'm not keen to alter the air cart too much as we will still be using it on a drill.

Thanks
