We had a 1992 9280, logged about 6000 hrs on it then upgraded to a 1998 9380 with about 5000 hrs so far. Its only job is to pull 53 feet of JD 1820 drill and a 340 bu tank. The 9280 would run the fan, but would not lift the frame out of the ground. While the 9380 can run the fan and lift the frame in a reasonable amount of time. Hard to notice the 25 hp difference I found. I think any difference we seen was due to the tires going from 42" on the 9280 to 32" on the 9380. We have the suitcase weights front and back, leveled to about a 60/40% front/back. It is d**n near impoossible to make the wheels break 15% slip.
Overall, we are just as impressed with the 9300 series as we were with the 9200 series. Especially like some of the things they did with the cab, like the seat controls, and auxillary 12V power ports. The 'hole' to run monitor cables from inside the cab to the equipment is MUCH improved, it can allow large sized flat plugs through it. That is for sure something I won't miss about the 9200 series.
The 9300 series seems to run cooler engine temps as well. The only problem we had really with the 9380 was the hood latch. Doesn't keep the hood tight enough and it wears out from wigglying and eventually we have to replace the latch. Not much of an adjustment on the latch.
As far as steigermans post about the optional hydralic system, I have no idea if we have that, and if we do, how can I tell?
