Why does John Deere have so combine models that are only available in foreign countries. There are so many combine models like the W series, most of the T series, and the S400 series that are only available in other countries. Meanwhile the only combines available for US/Canada are the S700 series, the X9 series, and the T670. Also, a lot of these foreign combines series include compact designs that could be popular if sold in US/Canada markets. This isn't a new thing either. Back in the 1970s-1990s, there were entirely different combine models for European markets.

IMO, #1 reason - EMISSIONS. The cost of the emissions system is so high, that the combine cost would be so high, that the small farmers who would like a new small combine still could not afford to buy them new. Is it worth it to build a $200,000 combine that requires a $100,000 emissions system?
Note that many of these models are just literally old models with slight mods. Did you know you can still buy a OPEN STATION combine (looks very much like a 55!) in China?? Would you be willing to go cabless w/ no A/C? Another reason is NA farmers want the comforts & bells....and thats also $$$.
I would personally LOVE to be able to buy a new 9500 type combine.....my guess is the cost would be at least 10 years of my farm income......😫
