New SeedStar 2 software.
Seedstar™ 2 warnings are disruptive to the operator when turning on the end of the field or while transporting the planter.
Seedstar 2 controllers must follow ISO 11783 protocol when warnings occur.
Version 9 of Seedstar 2™ software will include the following new features:
Headland Warning Suppression - The Headland Warning Suppression function disables seed sensor warnings when the planter is raised. Refer to the following graphic for more information.
Note: It will not disable other planter functions (example: rotate meter function).
Carefully read each of the possible scenarios (A, B, C) below to determine what is needed to enable this feature.
If the Planter is:
A. Equipped with either a Variable Rate Drive or Seedstar 2 RowCommand height sensor (or button switches on integral planters only), the feature will be immediately operational. No additional parts are needed.
B. If the Planter is RowCommand compatible (PIN A017***730101 or A0DB**730101 and later 1720 Stack-Fold, 1760 Wing-Fold, 1770 Flex, 1770NT, 1790, DB44, DB58, DB60, DB66, DB80, DB88, DB90) but not equipped with Variable Rate or RowCommand, a height sensor assembly must be added for the feature to become operational. Refer to the RowCommand Compatibility Tool in the Ag Sales Manual to determine the Height Sensor P/N needed. Refer to the RowCommand AFC Installation Instructions A87422 for height sensor mounting information by model.
C. If the planter is a Moline built, Seedstar 2 non-RowCommand compatible planter equipped with a ground drive transmission (PIN A017***730101 and later), this feature will not be operational unless a height sensor or button switch (integral planters only) circuit is added to the Planter.
- To add a height sensor assembly to a Moline built Seedstar 2 non-RowCommand compatible drawn planter (PIN A017***730101 and later) equipped with Ground Drive, order harness P/N AA69118 (qty 1, connects the Seedstar 2 controller to the height sensor harness). Refer to the appropriate planter Parts Catalog VRD information for other specific height sensor and mounting components.
- To add button switch assemblies to a Moline built Seedstar 2 non-RowCommand compatible integral planter (PIN A017***730101 and later) equipped with Ground Drive, order harnesses P/N AA69118 (qty -1, connects the Seedstar 2 controller and the button switch harness) and P/N AA51728 (qty - 1, connects to harness AA69118 and both button switches). Refer to the appropriate planter Parts Catalog VRD information for other specific button switch and long/short parallel arm mounting components.
To activate the Headland Warning Suppression, place a check in the box (Planter >> Planter Configuration >> Sensor >> Seed >> Headland Warning Suppression).
Note: On MY10 factory built planters (PIN's A017***735101 or A0DB*735101 and after) equipped with Variable Rate Drive or RowCommand, this feature must be activated by the operator prior to use.
Note: The height sensor must be properly calibrated and start/stop point established for proper operation. Refer to the Seedstar 2 Operator's Manual, Setup Basic Planter Configuration, “Calibrate Common Start and Stop Height” or “Calibrate Separate Start and Stop Height” for more information.
Note: On ground drive planters, it is recommended to set a common Start/Stop height point that corresponds to when the ground drive transmission contact tire starts to be driven by the planter carrying tire.
Note: When configured as noted above, the Headland Warning Suppression feature will suppress warnings when the planter is raised if also equipped with a IVS Rate Controller and competitive row clutching systems. The Headland Warning Suppression feature will not suppress warnings if the IVS Rate Controller and competitive row clutching system disengages planter rows when the planter is lowered operating in the field.
Transport Mode - The Transport Mode disables all planter warnings and functionality (example: rotate meter function) when the planter is being transported. For this feature to be operational, the operator must depress the Transport Mode soft key (Planter >> Planter Configuration >> Frame). When the Transport Mode soft key is depressed, a warning will appear indicating: “Planter Monitor in Transport Mode”. To return to full planter functionality (i.e. warnings and normal operation), depress the soft key on the screen. Refer to the following graphics for more information.
Virtual Terminal - If more than one Virtual Terminal is connected, there will be an additional tab on the Planter Configuration tab (Planter >> Planter Configuration >> Display). Listed on the “Display” page will be a soft key labelled “Next VT” (virtual terminal). If the soft key is depressed, the planter will turn off the current display and move it to the next virtual terminal. Once configured to a particular Virtual Terminal, it will be used as the preferred display as long as it is present at start up of the planter controller.
Note: This feature will not allow a GSD4 display to become the primary display.
Seedstar 2 version 9 software will become available in September 2009.
