Quote:AGCO has been playing with a cts or lexon type combine, but all companies have two or three different machines on the drawing board at once.My guess is once they make sure that the 9895 is realising all expectations this other one might fade, whats the point ,the 9895 is only limited by engine size and that is easy fixed, put 550 hp in there and you have a very simple monster.
Limited by engine size!?!?! Do you have any idea what 1 horsepower costs on modern combines today? $500 - $700 USD. What are you willing to pay for that 125hp increase to get the 9895 to 550hp? $75,000 USD? Not good value! The 425hp C13 CAT engine certainly gives the Cat lexion 580R enough ponies to walk the dog over the competition, why can't it do the same in the Massey? It's not the engine dude, its how the combine is using (or not using) the available power. That unique hydro rotor drive is the limiting factor, not its horsepower. Put a belt drive variator in its place and see what happens. You'd have the axial flow that CaseIH still dreams of.
