Rear axle types

In general, in Europe not many people use dual rears on their tractors. And we all know that is not the case in North America. So, that being said, can we brainstorm here about the types of rear axles and their benefits as well as the downsides? I have that JD4650 that has what i believe you call rear bar axles and would like to utilize them, put some duals yet not sure what other benefit aside from better grip and flotation increase I would get? Needless to say, it is an MFWD model so grip isn't really an issue. Also, anyone knows some other types of rear axles and what manufacturer has/makes the best ones? When I was looking at the new tractor i really wanted that as an option, but do I really need it? And if I opt for bar axles, i might have to buy a US or Canadian model ( Fendt per say ) meaning, i shall have to import it from North America and that would add so much extra cost to an already overpriced machine.

Depends where you go in Europe. I haven't been everywhere so can't comment but here's the thing......Most places have width restrictions on the roads usually about 3m or 9ft 10" in old money so duals (or twins) will put them overwidth for moving. So you gotta take them off and then you gotta transport the things to the next jobsite.....so a bar axle would probably also too wide plus you gotta unbolt and bolt up them goddam extra wheels.

I have seen some similar wheels, i believe this is the link to those

I think the width restriction in EU is 3.5m. At least for combine harvesters, and probably the same for the other agricultural machinery. If i put twins on my axles, i should be right on a margin there. :Tractor2:

Those should help a lot if using bigger air drill with a power harrow combo.

Not sure what you are pulling with the tractor, the benefit of the bar axle is that you can add extra wheel weights and utilize the engine HP. Around here you add as much weight as you can either cast weights or fluid in the tires or both to keep the tires from spinning.
