Ask your dealer if the conclaves were levelled on delivery. A couple 70series machines were having rotor loss issues and it turned out the concaves were incorrectly levelled from factory.

 

Make sure you have removed the separator plates at the rear of your rotor on both sides and keep the combine full.

 

Remove every other wire out of the 3rd concave if running small wire concaves

 

thanks for the replies! dealer coming to have a look next few days! have heard about the concave theory and if dealer cant sort it out will try large wire! was going to replace front with large wire, but do you think the back would be better?

 

Thresh with the front concave and separate with the rear. Be sure to set the concave clearance to zero and run it up to speed after leveling the concave but before closing it up. We had a high threshing element-rub bar.

We are on the ep and most people run one small up front and two large at the rear in their deeres.

 

What settings are you running now? Shouldn't be losing any barley going under a ton to the acre. I'd second the advice of running a large wire concave in the rear but need to know where you are at now with rotor speed, concave clearance and operating speed

 

thanks again. we had the concave to tight and rotor not fast enough, i think we were nursing it a bit! the jd tech just opened everything up and ran the rotor as fast as he could. A little tip if anyone cares if put your machine in gear then step the revs up you gain about 100 more rotor revs, as opposed from going straight from idle to full noise! every little bit helps. We descussed the large wire concaves and that is our next step to get anymore capacity if we need!
