Case hasen't made a good combine since the 15's. Neighbor had 1480 that got is rear handed to it by our 750 massey in 60 bu/acre barley. Demoed a 2188 years ago that only did 6 acres and hour while our old massey did 5 in the same field.

Not sure what you mean? But anyway I will say this that here in the windrow harvest area of Alberta any rotor, not just a Axial Flow are going to have a time of it in oats or barley. The neighbor with the 1480 has hated the combine since the day he got it. He had traded a 915 for the 1480 and went way backwards.

Very true farminflyboy. Just goes to show that not all combines are for all areas. This is one reason why import combines like the TX's and CX's from New Holland have a following up here.

Yup, you never see a tx or cx around here. If you see any new hollands its a tr or mybe a cutter with a CR. Its hard to make a jack of all trades that does them all wonderfully.

speeking about the best machines ever build. did some body knows any TOP ten or TOP 100 AG machines? It was a lot of them in 2000 car of the century song of the century or a millennium, but I newer find a TRACTOR of the century or a combine

I can't fix anything myself was a white collar guy and bought a farm and bought a 1986 1660. I have ran it 4 years now and even I can set it and it has been bullet proof so far.

I have had a Massey 750 & 850 a case 1680 2388 and now an 8010. I have liked them all, but I have liked each one better than the last, so I guess I would have to say the 8010.

Does any manufacture even make a conventional in the USA anymore since Deere stopped??

Only guys I know who seem to hang on to the conventionals are guys with cattle wanting the long straw. I sure like my IH rotary and it quite likes big barley swaths:D

Good deal.

A thread over 6 years old revitalized, neat.:)

When this thread started the gal in the opening post avatar didn't even need a bra!;)

Note: pic may change.:(

Doesn't seem that long ago that our deere dealer kept wanting us to trade our axial flow for their "all crops and all conditions conventional deere" We always told them we didn't want to go backwards to a conventional.
They are selling a ton of combines around here now that they got the axial flow copied. lol
Oh we had 1460, 2166, 2388 and now 2588. All very good with standouts being 1460 for longevity and 2588 for all around capacity and durability

The best all around ones that we have had are the 2388's. They have run with little trouble, do a good job of cleaning, are easy to maintain, and are pretty good on fuel. The 1460 we had just ran and ran with no trouble but didn't have the capacity of a 2388. We have had a fair amount of trouble with the 7088 and the thing drinks diesel but doesn't have much more capacity than the 2388. Best hillside is the 1670 with the cummins motor but a 1470 will do just fine any day. The axial flow machines have been great in general and will continue for years to come, we have no intention of switching colors.

Deere had it right in the 60's, then copied Massey design, they went broke. Then copies IH rotary and they went broke. Better hope Deere doesn't copy another company. Several variations of rotary and they ALL work. Saw a old rusty "Roto Thresh" on a flat bed the other day, anyone remember them?

I had a 1660 I really liked it.Small engine good on fuel and hardly any kernels went over the sieves. It got even better after I put a afx rotor in it.(rumbling was gone)
Than I had a 2388 did a good job of threshing, but had a lot of problems with it.Replaced 2 rotor drive gearboxes and a lots of sieve problems. Got rid of it with just over 1000 on it.
Now I have a 7120 this is the 3rd season, all I do is grease the machine ones before harvest and fill up the fuel tank. Like it very much.

2388 was the machine that I liked the most, other that the rotor belt....

Back in the 90s we had two Deere 9600s on canola, a 2188 came in and combined more canola then we did with two.... We were in shock and awe...
