48 rows is divisable by any common size row crop piece of equipment. Would make it nice for matching it up to any cultivator/side dressing rig and cornheads. To bad the headlands would take up half the average field.

That's be alright for about half an hour until I came up to a pivot point. Then I think I'd be spending more time trying to jockey that thing around and splice rows in just to get around it. If I had one that big I think I'd also have a 12 row just for spots like that, pivot points/wells, headlands, pivot corners...Wait a second maybe I should just stick with a 12 row.

there 48R 20" or 22" planters, not 48R 30"s...so where you could squeeze a DB90 this would fit.

I still can't believe DB90's are too popular to make a large enough demand for it. Local'ish guy has 2 of them and gave up all the small fields because he could barely move with them. Other guy who has one also has two 16 rows and another 24 so he can atleast plant the fields the thing wont work well in.

Seems like everyone in the plains uses airdrills or some variation with the exception of what little corn is grown out there.

Actually i believe 8400 is referring to the 48 row 30" planter. I do not know when they will officially release it but a neighbor claims to have one on the way and I have seen them at the local deere testing ground. Also saw the one sitting at bauers factory this summer.

They could also put it in there with the wings folded up on it. Then it would only be 90 feet. I am guessing they would rather have it all unfolded though. Rumor around here is they are making 5 of them. I live about 20 miles from the plant.

Last year when I was at the Louisville show I am pretty sure that no manufacturer has a single lot that has 120 feet in any one direction to show that size of equipment. There's not even any space there to show it folded up and attached to the back of the 4x4 required to pull it. And there is definitely not any room to give up (nor other exhibitor likely willing) any to let it be done either. That place is full.

Better wait for an outdoor show.

Looks to me like john deere has two lots right next to each other at the show. One is 100x55 and the other is 100x50. I'm not saying that it will be there, but it seems to me like they could pull it in there folded or probably find a way to unfold it as well, maybe cross the aisle. Muddy is 100 feet enough to unfold a 90 foot planter?
