Hey TC The crop is club wheat, a sub class of the soft white that is the
predominate wheat grown here in the PNW (Oregon, Washington &
Idaho) It does better for us here in Wasco Co at the higher elevations....the club seen here is above 2000 feet....this variety
is one called Crew; it's a five line cross (notice the red & white chaff
and NO beards. Club is valued for it's LOW protein ( I know this
is back wards to most of you) Quite often it is used to blend with
the more common soft whites to keep the overall protein levels low
for our end use customers.
