7240 Bouncing issues

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone else has been having trouble with (or are sick and tired of ! ) the excessive bouncing from their machine?

Running a new (2016) 7240 and just can't seem to get it to ride nicely. Started with the recommended tyre pressures and have played with them, both up and down, with little difference.
Obviously running in no-till and minimum till fields means that the ride will be rough, especially when it's been dry in the lead up to harvest, but I have had similar issues both wet spongy conditions and in the dry.
Seems to start at around 7-7.5km/hr and from then on just grit the teeth and hang on.
Running Macdon D65 @ 40ft and once it is down cutting and the weight comes off the front of the machine and the bouncing starts, well you can imagine what it does for the AHHC !
We also run a 7230 (2013) and it suffers from the bounce a little, but not too bad really. Both machines operating in the same field the 7230 was miles smoother. There has been a rear tyre size change between these two machines (at factory level) but I would have thought a pressure change would resolve the issue regardless of tyre size?

Interested for thoughts, opinions and experiences. Certainly sick of seeing the horizon pitching past the end of my unloading auger in the rear view mirror!!

Never heard of this on a combine either, is the AHHC causing it? Why is the weight coming off the combine with the header lowered? The combine should still be carrying the head, it should be just skimming the the ground.

If it's definitely tires I'd experiment with extremes in tire pressure like dropping it until they have a good bulge even for just a round to see if it makes a difference, and maybe going up to ten pounds over to see if it gets better. What tires and inflation pressures you running?

I agree--turn off AHHC first and see what happens. Toolbox/Head2 Header sensors NO.

Is it possible that you have a bent rim on a front tire that is causing the bounce? Not all new stuff is right!

Does the bounce change with a empty vs full grain tank?

I'm with Headsight, and I've never had anyone call in about this problem either---and they would definitely be calling if this was common!

The direction of the tyres can make a difference too.
I have duals and without the front/ header on in soft, steep sand it will buck to the point of getting stopped. Have been told tyres on backwards helps but I need the traction when harvesting so will keep them the right way round
