What is oval, the two bolts that hold the section? Do the bolts break or section if something is hit, typically?
JD has used these style of bolts for a while now. Very nice to change sections, compared to the splined bolt style. I’ve never had an issue with many bolts breaking. Similar to my macdon head, one here or there.

Sounds neat. Maybe it's worth replacing the knife on an older series with the new components. Just about time to replace everything anyway. Is the threaded part of the oval bolt the same size as before? In other words do you have to use the new-style knife sections with them?

I was wandering would knife be able to be replaced. I came from a deere and changing sections on Macdon sucks a ton compared to deere. Seem to break way more of them so it would be nice to change them without a hammer.

I suspect a lot of guys are bending the knife back when they use a hammer and punch to knock out the bolts, probably making the problem worse. We modified an old rivet tool to push them out. Then I use the tool as a weight to hammer against when putting in new bolts. Wish I could buy a few more. Was called the Rivet-Eze II.

I'm definitely going to look into moving to the oval style. I wonder if I could get a punch that would cut the oval holes using the round holes as a guide. Then could retrofit it quite easily.

With FD2 and contour max, what would I be doing in the cab to change stubble height in cereals ?
With fd1 and buddy wheels we adjust tilt a lot, especially in this droughted out crop.

With Claas integration kit (included with header) the same switch that controls vario feed plates is set to either run the tilt or run the contour wheels, you pick which one and it can be changed in the cab.
There is a kit for Deere as well, the rest get a foot pedal to change from fore/aft reel to those other functions depending on how you have it set.

Ok, I assume some kind of gauge on header for the countour max seen from cab ? Our Deere combines are 15/16 with 2630 so would be curious if integration kit would work.

There is a height gauge attached to the left end gauge wheel, same end the much better reel position indicator is now.

I’m sure it would work but would not involve the 2630, just the main machine monitor.

Was just quoted 148k on fd240

i was just quoted 148k on fd240, loaded but still yikes. For comparison I paid 111k for fd140s last year.
It’s either not equipped or not high for sure.
You don’t think that’s high for a 40’ don? I was quoted quit a bit less, no shears on the end, but double knife, triple real, countour max, slow speed transport. Not sure what else there is ? Early pay by end of august helps also on price.
