Think we saw a picture of something similar last year on the forum, but it was under wraps. (or was that a New Holland?).

Whether this prototype is indicative of a new line, or just an experimental platform to get data for future designs none of us know. The body panels look rather hacked together, so my personal opinion is this is a one-off machine that may inform the design of future class 10 and 11 machines.

CNH is a really strange company, with no clear direction in my opinion. Three different combine lines among two brands, all competing with each other really. And if they add a fourth, then what. Seems like a touch of NIH syndrome among the engineering groups at the sub brands. Really if they are going to develop a class 11 twin rotor, they should just offer it under with color, rather than keep the features and lines completely separate and different designs. I can understand the loyal following of the NH twin rotor and also the legacy Case machines, but at some point does it make sense to keep offering competing lines?

I've been told by someone with inside connections that they have a lot of churn among their R&D folk and a lack of leadership.

I wonder if that NH machine and the CaseIH machine are really the same thing. If you look at the NH picture, the cab is yellow and NH, but the rest of the combine is CaseIH body panels, not NH body panels. Not sure if this was done simply for misdirection of prying eyes, or if it signals that this new machine will come in either color.

If that's true, I doubt this will be production machine then. More likely a technology demonstrator. Just like that huge John Deere prototype that was seen a few years ago with the conveyor unloading system. Supposed to be a lot of electric drive on that. The X9 bears little resemblance to it. I'm skeptical that when it hits production the latest big case machine will look much like the prototype.

You clean the engine air filter on a Case flagship combine once a year? Pretty impressive. Running two machines side by side I clean them every day. The 40 series stays cleaner than the 30... the 7230 gets pretty caked up with fine dust every day. I suspect a single combine running in a field would stay clean much longer. Not sure how often my cousin has to clean the engine air filters on his CRs. Every few days at least I suspect.

So there's nothing to suggestion made on this forum that the farm that traded in those X9s has brand new X9s for next harvest (implying they took the red combines and immediately traded them for new X9s)? I've seen this happen before. We bought a brand new Case combine from a Deere dealership some years ago. A guy traded in a green combine for a red one, but before he even took delivery he traded that red one off on a new green one. Not sure the reasons but probably some deal that soured.

I agree with Don the Case dual rotor machine is nowhere near production yet. The pictures are clearly prototypes.

It will be interesting to see what it is when they finally come out with a class 10. I keep hearing from Case IH people that they are not coming out with a twin rotor, but developing a larger diameter, longer single rotor? Anyone believe this?
Nope! Although Tribine essentially did that. Large rotor takes up a lot of space.
